What’s all this then?

Good question. This blog is still new enough that I’m not certain. My rough idea is to take what’s going on in the world and look at what’s come before. Sometimes this will be cutting an relevant. Sometimes it will be tenuously related. Overall, I hope it’s interesting. But I make no promises.

My aim is to publish posts with academic rigour (you’ll notice I always cite my sources), and yet keep it accessible. Oh, it’d be nice if people read it, too.

Who am I?

No one special. I’m doing a PhD in anthropology at the Australian National University. I specialise in South America, and would like to write a history of it one day (I’m thinking the role of religion in the continent). I majored in history along with international studies in my undergrad, so I guess that makes me vaguely qualified?
